We were seeing the same pattern repeatedly: agreements in shared drives, council updates in email, legal advice in separate documents, and process status spread across spreadsheets and personal notes. What We Needed the Platform to Do
From the beginning, we knew this could not be a thin dashboard over existing systems. Labour relations work crosses countries, legal regimes, councils, unions, and business units. The platform had to support that complexity directly, not abstract it away. It also had to be tenant-safe, API-friendly, and ready for AI-assisted execution without weakening governance controls.
In practical terms, we needed three outcomes:
- A single source of truth for labour-relations entities and active workstreams.
- Structured workflows that match how teams actually run consultations and change programs.
- AI assistance that is controllable, auditable, and safe for enterprise use.
What Makes LRM Different
One practical example is how LRM handles information freshness. Different labour-relations entities age at different speeds, so the platform applies FreshScore signals and in-product nudges to surface what needs attention before it becomes a risk. Instead of treating freshness as a passive report, teams get a clear operational view of what should be reviewed now.
MCP for Agent Access, Not Just Chat
We wanted AI agents to work inside the platform, not around it. LRM exposes MCP tools, resources, and prompts so external assistants can query and operate on platform data in a controlled way. Search, agreements, councils, proposals, workflows, elections, and reporting are all available through explicit, versioned interfaces.
This is not open-ended access. Requests are authenticated, tenant-scoped, privilege-checked, and auditable. Every tool call leaves a compliance trail, so we can answer who did what and when.
GrAI as the AI Backbone
Instead of embedding model calls across modules, we route AI workloads through GrAI, a dedicated Graylark AI gateway. That includes document analysis, proposal insights, assisted authoring, report generation, sentiment, and chat.
Centralizing this gives us one place to manage prompts, model behavior, rollouts, and safeguards. It also means we can gate capabilities by feature flags, so AI can be enabled per tenant or per environment and rolled back without disrupting core platform behavior.
Polyglot in CI
Multilingual support was another pressure point. New keys were appearing constantly, and manual translation queues were becoming a release bottleneck. Graylark Polyglot now runs in CI, identifies missing keys, sends them through GrAI translation workflows, and commits updated bundles back into the codebase.
That keeps localization in step with delivery and removes a lot of repetitive manual work.
A Workflow Engine That Fits Labour Relations
LRM uses a custom step-based workflow model with engagements, end dates, optional links to related entities, and conditional step handling. It is structured enough for compliance and reporting, but flexible enough for real programs where timelines and dependencies shift.
In labour relations, process quality is not a nice-to-have. It is how you avoid expensive mistakes.

LRM is built as a modular, domain-driven platform. Core capabilities such as agreements, councils, proposals, workflows, reporting, and AI are separated into clear service boundaries so teams can evolve functionality quickly without destabilizing the wider system.

Platform coordination and configuration use managed consensus patterns to keep behavior consistent across environments, while resilience, caching, messaging, and deployment pipelines are designed for continuous enterprise operation.
Integration is treated as a first-class capability. External connections are modular and governable, so organizations can enable the channels they need without introducing unnecessary coupling. Internally, strict separation between interface, application, and data layers keeps the codebase maintainable as teams and use cases scale.
Security and Trust by Design
We treat security and compliance as core product behavior, not a separate layer. Access control, tenant isolation, and auditability are built into both user workflows and AI-assisted workflows so teams can rely on the same guardrails regardless of how work is being done.
AI capabilities are rolled out under controlled enablement with clear permissions and service protections. Sensitive credentials are centrally managed, and data protection controls are applied across platform interactions so organizations can adopt AI features without weakening governance standards.
Delivery follows the same principle: governed schema evolution, automated testing, and quality gates in CI before release. That keeps changes traceable, reduces deployment risk, and supports the level of defensibility enterprise labour-relations teams need.
Methodology: Controlled Delivery Over Heroics
The build methodology is intentionally conservative where it needs to be: flag first, test deeply, release progressively. That matters when features touch legal interpretation, employee-facing communication, and regulated process steps.
We pair fast feedback loops with strict quality standards: unit and integration test separation, consistent code standards, and predictable release automation. Translation updates are scheduled through Polyglot jobs, so language coverage stays aligned with product change.
Where We Think This Goes Next
The next phase is about widening capability without losing control: stronger scenario simulation, richer agent-driven workflows, and tighter links between platform operations and AI-assisted reasoning.
